President Deuba Emphasizes National Prosperity Through Federalism

Okhaldhunga: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba, inaugurating the BP Memorial Building in Okhaldhunga on Tuesday, urged collective efforts for national development by firmly establishing federalism. President Deuba expressed confidence that the country's prosperity is intricately linked to the institutionalization of federal governance.

Highlighting the positive impact of federalism, President Deuba argued that development has reached remote areas of the country, emphasizing the indispensable role of republic and federalism. "There is no alternative to the current system, and it is bringing transformative changes to people's lives," he stated. President Deuba discouraged contemplating changes to the existing system at this juncture.

During the event, NC leader Shekhar Koirala called on the government to implement concrete programs aimed at developing the agriculture sector to generate employment. He emphasized the crucial need to provide self-employment opportunities to the youth and address the issue of unemployment.

Additionally, NC General Secretary Gagan Thapa expressed the view that planning for the next election at this time might be premature. He urged a focus on addressing the current challenges before considering electoral matters.

Koshi Province Chief Minister Kedar Karki shared that the provincial government is actively prioritizing social development issues as part of its governance strategy. The statements were made during the inauguration of the BP Memorial Building, symbolizing a collective call for national progress through the principles of federalism.
